Basic FAQ
What is the difference between a Lead and Contact?
Leads are raw details about individuals or representatives of organizations collected from trade shows, seminars, advertisements, purchasing and such external sources and marketing campaigns. Contacts normally mean person(s) with whom a communication is established to pursue a relationship or a business opportunity. In a typical B2C scenario, contact is the direct point of business-to-customer; whereas in a B2B scenario, contact is the reference point within an organization (business opportunity). Both Leads & Contacts are equally characterized by information fields like name, e-mail, mobile, title, etc.
How to create a Lead without company name?
By default, Zoho CRM is set to B2B (Business-to-Business), but you can customize the CRM business processes to Business-to-Customer(B2C) by using the Zoho CRM customization tools. For more details refer: B2C.
Advanced FAQ
What happens to the open activities after the Lead conversion?
While converting a lead, the open activities related to that particular lead will be automatically associated with the corresponding Account, Contact and Potential.
Can a Lead be assigned to multiple users?
No, a Lead can only be assigned to one user.
Why are new Leads not showing up at the top of the list in "Today's Leads"?
You can sort the list based on the Created Time by clicking on the Created Time column. Now, you should be able to see new Leads on top of "Today's Leads".
Can I convert a Lead to Potential without creating an Account?
No. Converting a Lead to Potential by default always creates an Account and a Contact (in tandem with a typical B2B scenario).
What happens to the emails associated to the Lead when it is converted to an Account?
Once a Lead is converted, the associated Emails within the Lead get mapped to the Contact.
Can I create multiple web forms and then collect Leads separately?
Yes, you can generate multiple web forms from the CRM system and post it in different web pages for collecting information. To identify separate and collective information based on the web page from which a Lead came from, a pick-up list can be created with a number assigned for each web page (hidden from the user giving information). These numbers act as identifiers for each web page. For more details refer Web-To-Lead Forms.
Why are the Leads captured through the web forms not visible under the Leads tab?
You might have enabled the Approval of leads. Please check the steps given below:
- Click Setup.
- Under Lead Settings, click Web-to-Lead form.
- Select a form, and then click edit.
- In the Web-to-Lead form page, under the Lead Assignment (Step-3) check the box to enable Manual Lead Approval and click Approve Leads. For more details refer Approve Leads.
Can you explain Leads captured trough the web forms? Concept is not clear.
Hi, With the help of web to lead form, you can capture leads from your web site into the Zoho CRM. You can create a form and host it in your web site. Information filled in the web form will be captured as a lead in your Zoho CRM account. For more information on this please refer the following link: http://zohocrm.wiki.zoho.com/Web-Forms.html Regards, Vidya
I would like to organize the Leads page based on Contacts last name, so I could select "S" and see Leads with last name Smith, Sanders, Shinkle rather than Sam, Susan and Sally. I discovered that if is drop "First Name", I can get a listing, but only last name appears. It would be preferable to see the conventional format:
Smith, Bobby
Sanders, Joe
Shinkle, Amos
EMAIL ADDRESS BUG - email field formatted as email has trouble saving on "field edit mode" but works fine on "page edit mode" - seems like a simple bug that should easily be fixed.
Zoho PDF viewer displays PDFs well but does not print properly at all. Possibly retune this to function as a "PDF viewed in browser" rather than a "Flash filtered and distorted version of a PDF viewed in a browser"
THanks
One problem with the Flow process is that we are making changes to the field lists as our business grows. The way Zoho forms are currently configured, everytime I make a change in LEADS, I would have to go duplicate those changes in POTENTIALS, ACCOUNTS, CONTACTS, and so forth. Well either that or remain a disorganized mess.
Could it be possible to "check a box" and by doing so all the fields would remain consistent through all tabs, despite changes and updates?? If this function already exists, please point me in the right direction.
Thank you.
